The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center is supporting a Cub Scout STEM Day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21.
During the event, hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Del-Mar-Va Council, Cub Scouts will have an opportunity to complete a portion of the Out of this World NOVA Award.
The focus will be on achieving the requirements that are more difficult to do outside of a home or Den meeting setting.
The Visitor Center will provide a variety of hands-on activities through a series of STEM stations where scouts will learn about the solar system, Earth’s moon, eclipses and the sun. The event will include solar viewing through telescopes (weather permitting) provided by the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation.
Registration for the event is required through the Delmarva Council.
The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U.S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
