Saturday, October 1, 2016
11 a.m. – Puppet Show: Join Sam the Monkey and Puppet Astronauts Jenny and Jeff as they go on an adventure in space. Ages 2 – 5.
2 p.m. – Rocketry: Learn about the sub-orbital sounding rockets and see the principles in action by launching model rockets or straw rockets.
*The straw and model rocket launches are weather permitting. If we are unable to launch straw and model rockets we will conduct a Rocketry presentation in the Visitor Center Auditorium.
The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center and its partner the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will host a viewing event for International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) on Saturday, October 8, from 7 – 10 p.m.
The event begins with a Moon Mania presentation at the NASA Visitor Center’s Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. followed by moon and night sky observations through telescopes on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Moon-themed movies, hands-on activities and crafts also will be available.
The event is free and open to the public. The Moon Mania presentation will take place regardless of weather; however, the telescope viewing is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
**Please note this event may be modified or cancelled based on the Antares launch date. I will keep you updated on the status of this event.

11 a.m. – Space Racers: Space Racers is a new animated preschool television program that follows young spaceship cadets as they soar through the solar system learning about the power of scientific investigation and observation, the wonders of space exploration and the importance of working together as a team. Prior to the Space Racers television series showing, we will do an activity related to the episode. Ages 4 – 8.
2 p.m. – A Tour of the Solar System: During this Science on a Sphere presentation, we will take a tour of the solar system with stops at the sun, the planets, moons and a dwarf planet.

11 a.m. – Investigation Station: During this program we will investigate a STEM related topic through labs, demonstrations and activities. Ages 6 – 10.
2 p.m. – Peculiar Planet: Have you ever wondered about other planets when looking up at the night sky? Join us for a short program to learn about one of the other planets in our solar system.

2 p.m. – Engineering Challenge: Assemble a team of family or friends and accept the challenge! Discuss a challenge Wallops’ engineers solve every day, then work together with your team to overcome a similar type of engineering challenge.

Mission: Cargo Resupply to the International Space Station
A more specific date will be identified upon Orbital ATK’s completion of final operational milestones and technical reviews. The Visitor Center hours of operation for the Antares launch are to be determined.
